Looks like winter brings out the dark side in Russell Brewing. First up is a root beer milk stout. The charactistic notes of chocolate and roasted coffee are complented by Sassafras. Next up is a beer that helps remind of warmer times, it being a porter with coconut added, which brings out a subtle sweetness.
Just even looking at this little beer from Pfriem Family Brewers puts us in a Christmassy mood! It is a kriek style lambic beer made with Hood River cherries and barrel aged for 10 months. It finishes tart and dry. Very nice!
A gorgeous French red with nice depth and intensity. It spent 12 months resting in oak for a nicely integrated tannic character. The nose is composed of notes of red fruits, cocoa and vanilla. The palate is just as complex. This goes very nicely with all sorts of red meats and French cheese.
